So last night was my debut as a ballet dancer. Well I should qualify that. When Remiah asked if I could be in the ballet pointe piece she was preparing for the Dance Barn Spring Recital, I responded with, "is it a comedy?". My kids and wife are all very accomplished dancers and they regularly mock my funky moves so I was a little wary of what Remiah might be expecting. I was was to be an old doll maker, carry the dolls onto stage, they come to life and I dance with them and LIFT them. Turns out it was a comedy. Not the real dancers, they were amazing, poise skill beauty strength passion life. I guess the audience needed a laugh and I gave them something to laugh at. Very satisfying. Thanks girls for letting me be a part of your art and risking your life in my awkward hands.

Learning a lot about who I am in my Stretch and Strength class Tuesday nights at the Dance Barn. Maria keeps emphasizing where all the movement comes from; your core, your core, engage your core, those muscles in your lower abdomen, initiate from there. When I watch well trained dancers I notice the control the poise the strength. I think this is a good message for my life. Engage your core! know who you are. Who God has created you to be. The New Testament speaks of 'our identity in Christ' that is where we can find our fullest sense of who we are. it's strange actually because it looks like we're losing ourselves but when I fully connect with the divine dream for me I find I move with a joyful strength and focus.

So again we get to sing in the streets of Vancouver. The 1950 Dodge flat bed is being outfitted with a sound system, drums and a generator and the rest of us will be wirelessly broadcasting our instruments and voices from the street to the truck. What Fun. So again, Dec 4 at 1:00 PM on Georgia Street, after Santa we come traipsing along singing the traditional carols and a couple original ones.
